Q. Can I do more than one course?
A. To make sure as many as possible get on one course of their choice, we ask that you only sign up for one initially. You need to indicate a first and second course option on your application form and if, after all the applications have been sorted there are places on your second (or subsequent) choice, we can put you on a waiting list for any places that become available.
Q. When is the age cut-off date for each course?
A. We check what age you will be within one month of the course starting. If you fall into the correct age bracket by that date, you will be eligible for the course.
Q. What if I can’t make all the sessions?
A. It is very important to attend all the course sessions because the group works together to create a piece of work. When one of the group is absent it makes it hard for the rest of the group to work without them. If you know about any absences before the start of the course, please tell the course tutor. It may be possible to accommodate the absence if it is in relation to a school event (and obviously emergency family crisis) but only if the tutor is aware of it beforehand.
Q. How do you allocate places on the courses?
A. Only if there are more applicants on a course than there are spaces, then we will aim to achieve Social Inclusion. Places are allocated based on each course having a representative mix of cultures, different social groupings and those from the local community. We also try to balance gender within a group where possible.
Q. What if I can’t pay the course fee all at once?
A. We are very happy to discuss and arrange payment by instalment. Please see the [course tutor] for a form which you can complete and return to us with your course application.
Q. Some courses have the option of paying to the end of March or for the whole year. What does this mean?
A. Several projects (Writing for Performance for 11-25 years; Dance for 12 to 16 years; Catalyst for 16 years plus;) will be working towards a specific performance in February or March then carrying on after the performance to the end of the activity year in July. Course members can continue taking part after the performance and the two course fees reflect the different lengths of the course.
Q. What if I don’t like the course once I’ve started?
A. We understand that sometimes the course may not suit you. As long as we find out within the first three weeks of the course starting we can give your place to another person and refund the remaining course fee. After taking part for three weeks you cannot get a refund.
Q. What if I don’t get on a project this time?
A. If we can’t place you on a project after this registration, we will offer you a priority place in the next available project at the mid-year registration (January 2012) to start a project in April 2012.
Q. When will I know if I have a place on a course?
A. We will be looking at the applications immediately after the registration evening (therefore making sure you attend is important). We will let everyone know within 2 weeks of the Registration Evening about the course on which they have been offered a place. You should return your confirmation form and payment within 1 week of receipt of your offer letter to confirm your place.
