Takeover Day is on FRIDAY 6th NOVEMBER and is an awesome chance for the 11 million children and young people in England to enter the adult-run world of businesses and organisations and ‘take over’ for a day.
Building on the existing way we work at Pegasus, we are going to be making a HUGE contribution to 11 Million Takeover Day, with meaningful and ongoing opportunities for children and young people to be involved in lots of areas of work here.
On this day we launch an exciting new volunteering scheme, we run the place, which builds on our commitment to involve young people in all areas of the organisation. The scheme gives 10 places to children and young people to work with Pegasus staff in the areas of governance, fundraising, programming and marketing. On Takeover Day they will be working on a variety of projects including planning future shows, leading tours of the building redevelopment site, applying for funding for projects, making management decisions and more!
On the same day, OYT Theatre Company will be touring their own performance, Walking On Eggshells, to local schools and leading drama workshops on the effects of family separation on young people. The company members, all aged between 14 and 19, will plan, lead and evaluate the sessions, having been trained by the Pegasus Arts Education Team.
As if that wasn’t enough, in the evening the Members’ Committee (aged from 10 years upwards) will be meeting (as they do EVERY MONTH) to make decisions and give their input in all matters Pegasus…
