Walking on Eggshells in rehearsal

The 2009/10 Theatre Company launched headlong into their busy year, devising and rehearsing a new version of Walking on Eggshells (a piece about family separation developed by Pegasus with Oxford Family Mediation service). They toured the results of their work to local primary and secondary schools, where they also ran workshops for pupils to explore the difficult themes of this piece.

Next the Company developed a new version of Shakespeare’s King Lear looking at the effects of ageing and heightened emotion on the brain and body - expressing the play through dance and drama. This was performed at The Fourth Dimension platform in March as well as at the Museum of Oxford (in conjunction with Pegasus Production Company’s exhibition on the history of OYT) before touring to Grenoble European Youth Theatre festival in the summer.

The Summer term will focus on the Company exploring directing skills by working in groups on short scenes and play extracts.

The Theatre Company contains a mix of young people who have been attending projects and residencies at Pegasus for several years and have a passion for drama and performance. They are working with their professional tutors to create an ensemble company in which each member can explore their own creative ideas while developing the company’s distinctive style.
